The drinks promotion seemed to work in our favour and we ended up making a few quid out of it. You got a drink for a quid aslong as you handed in one of our vouchers. We also got a pound for every voucher handed in – how did the bar make any money??? I wasn’t complaining though.

Originally there was supposed to be a few bands on, but for one reason or another there was just us and another band from Leeds (I presume – from their accents), I didn’t catch their name. With the number of bands shortened, we got to extend our set a little, but not as much as we’d have like as the first band played for about an hour and 20 minutes and they would have kept going if we hadn’t of said something. The first half of their set was their original material, which was mediocre. The second half was covers, which musically was great! They covered a lot of the stuff I would normally listen to in the car – The Stone Roses, The Charlatans, Oasis, The La’s etc….But the singer did nothing for that band. Not only did he insist on rambling on in between songs about nothing interesting what-so-ever, but he wasn’t the best singer either.

So we finally got on stage about 10.45(ish) and played a 45 minute set which was a mixture of our own stuff and covers. We bulked up our set a little more with a few extra covers as the first band went a little overboard them. I was pretty happy with the set and the promoter bought us all a pint afterwards (which was nice), as most promoters don’t even come to watch you perform. We also sold a few CD’s, wristbands etc….. so all in all a reasonable gig.

It was an early start on Saturday, we had to be at Stockport Market for around 10am - I think I speak for everyone when I say we were a little tired. The stage was a 7 and a half tonne truck (not the biggest by anymean) and this already had the drum kit, the speakers and the mic's on when we arrived, so you can imagine it was a little ‘cosy’ with the five of us on stage and it had to be, because it was absolutely freezing. **mental note** Any future gigs requests that start with ‘December’ and ‘Outdoor’, just say NO!! lol

We opened the ‘Pudsey Fest’ with a 45 minute set of cover, which started with ‘She Love’s You’. As we were situated outside the Bulls Head pub we didn’t get many passers-by, but we did get plenty of people watching from the top of the market, which wasn’t as much fun, BUT the atmosphere created by the other bands and the organisers was amazing – we had a good laugh with them. This was evident when covered ‘Johnny B Goode’, an elderly guy in a mobility scooter rode past with his arms and legs going ‘ten to dozen’. My first instinct was ‘Yeah! Look at him enjoying himself’, then Dave pointed out ‘If he can move his arms and legs like that, why the f**k is he on a mobility scooter’?? – a very good point indeed. After roaring through the rest of the set which included ‘I Predict a Riot’, ‘Living for the Weekend’ and ‘Disco 2000’ we finished with ‘Ever Fallen in Love’ by the Buzzcocks. Again I was impressed our set, I think we pretty much nailed every song we did.

We came off stage looking for a café (it was a little early for a beer), but then I was asked if I would join ‘3 Days’ onstage to sing ‘Supersonic’ (by Oasis) – which I couldn’t say no too. ‘3 Days’ are four very talented lads, who like us did 2 sets that day and also spent almost all their spare time waving a collection bucket at the passing people.

We spent most of the day watching the other bands – ‘System Fault’ and ‘Real Lies’ amongst others. Just before our third and final set I had to go and get some cough sweets – my throat was killing me. All they had was Uncle Luke’s cough sweets – this then began a discussion about who was first? Uncle Luke (cough sweets), Uncle Joe (mint balls) or Uncle Ben (rice)?? That kept us occupied for all of 25 seconds and then we were on stage AGAIN!

The last set we did was our normal originals set apart from one cover. We even had people who hadn’t seen us before singing along. I was knackered Saturday night though!

I’ve got all the way through this blog and hardly mentioned just how cold it was on Saturday – my hat goes off to the rest of the band, cos I had my hands in my pockets the whole time – I didn’t envy Pete having to play all the lead licks, when he couldn’t even feel his fingers!!!!

Cheers Stu

New Video

We've collected together a load of footage we've had on video and made a bit of a music video for 'Having It Easy'. If you can get along to any then make sure you do. Both are free!!!!

We're also continuing to write new songs and we've also been re-recording some older songs acoustically for you. Some you would expect but one and i'm not saying which one sounds surprisingly good acoustically. Hopefully the new songs should be available before the end of the year at the latest.

Any way can't think of anything else to write so i'm off.

If you want to keep up to date with whats going on then keep checking back. All members have been invited along as contributors so you never know you might see some thoughts about whats going on with them and even some more of Mr Lynch's gig reviews.

Dave
